Welcome to My Photography Journey

Introducing the Website

Launching this website feels a little like opening a well‑worn field notebook — a place to gather the photographs, notes, and quiet moments that have shaped my time outdoors. I don’t pretend to be a professional photographer; I’m an enthusiast who enjoys learning, experimenting, and improving with each experience. Over the past few years I’ve spent countless hours walking coastlines, watching wildlife, exploring cities, and travelling through landscapes that each carry their own rhythm. This site brings those experiences together in a way that feels honest to how I work: slowly, attentively, and with a curiosity for the details that often slip past.

Wildlife — Malta and Beyond

The Maltese wildlife section is the most personal part of the site. It focuses on the wetlands and coastal habitats of Malta and Gozo — places I’ve returned to repeatedly, often without any expectation other than seeing what the day might offer. Għadira, Simar, and Salina Nature Reserves have become familiar ground: quiet hides, shifting light, and the patient rhythm of birds moving through their environment. These photographs aren’t just records of species; they’re moments shaped by light, weather, behaviour, and the character of the Maltese wetlands. From Spotted Crakes and Ferruginous Ducks to shearwaters skimming the Gozo cliffs, this collection reflects the places I return to again and again.

Beyond Malta, the wildlife section expands into colder worlds and forested landscapes. The Arctic and Antarctic galleries include seals resting on ice floes, penguins navigating their colonies, and encounters with foxes, lynx, wolverines, and reindeer in Norway. A separate set from Slovenia focuses on forest wildlife — bears moving through the Notranjska woods, and a variety of birds and small mammals photographed in the quiet clearings of Markovec. Together, these galleries trace a wider arc of wildlife encounters across different climates and seasons.

Malta and Gozo — Landscapes of Home

The Malta and Gozo galleries gather the landscapes and architecture that define the islands: Mdina’s narrow streets, Valletta’s limestone glow, the red earth of Għajn Tuffieħa, the arches of Wied il‑Mielaħ, and the rural textures that sit between them. These images are less about grand scenes and more about the atmosphere of place — how light falls on stone, how a coastline curves, how a village corner holds its own story. They form a quiet portrait of the islands I call home.

Travel — Europe, the Americas, and the Polar Regions

Beyond the islands, the Travel sections open the door to journeys further afield. From the streets of Buenos Aires and the calm waterfronts of Colonia del Sacramento, to the lakes and cities of Slovenia, Trieste, Barcelona and Porto, each gallery reflects a different way of seeing. Some are shaped by architecture and colour; others by water, movement, and the rhythm of daily life.

The Norway gallery shifts into winter: fjords, snowstorms, fishing villages, and the movement of the northern lights across the sky. The Antarctica section brings a different kind of stillness — icebergs, channels, and the vastness of the southern ocean. Together, these galleries form a wider map of the places that have influenced my photography.

Moments Beyond

The Moments Beyond section gathers photographs that sit outside the main galleries — scenes that don’t belong to a single place but to a particular feeling. A sailboat disappearing into mist, the quiet of sunrise and the glow of sunset, fireworks over Grand Harbour, the Milky Way rising above Maltese cliffs, and the moon in its different phases. These are small pauses in time, collected simply because they made me stop and look.

A Curated Journal

This website is not meant to be a portfolio in the strict sense. It’s more of a curated journal — a way to share the moments I wanted to remember, the scenes that made me pause, and the wildlife encounters that stayed with me. I’m an enthusiast photographer with much still to learn, and I hope that sense of curiosity comes through in the images. I hope you find something here that makes you pause too, whether it’s a quiet detail, a familiar landscape, or a glimpse of a place you’ve never seen before.

My deepest gratitude goes to my daughter Roberta, who designed this website and made all of this possible with love, patience, and dedication.

Thank you for visiting, and for taking the time to explore.
